After many years of studying the ecology of the Sonoran Desert biome and the many microbiomes that form within it, I try my best to emulate nature with the yards I work with, both in design and maintenance.
This means that I plant as many Sonoran Desert and Arizona native plants as is reasonable in a space, depending on sunlight, location, and, most importantly, other plants!
I also try to avoid the use of pesticides and herbicides at all costs. A balanced microbiome shouldn't have an overabundance of any plants or animals to the point where it causes problems, and where those imbalances are spotted, they can be treated organically.
If you need help making your yard look good, I can help! These past few summers were particularly difficult for landscapes in the Phoenix area, especially due to prolonged high nighttime heat. I can help you keep things alive and healthy, or design a whole new plan for the long-term success of your outdoor spaces!
